(Sacramento, CA) – The California State Legislature concluded the 2020 legislative session this week, and Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) passed over a dozen authored and coauthored bills that now await the Governor’s signature.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – After making significant progress, the State of California has accepted Imperial County’s variance report allowing them to move forward into Stage 2 of the Resilience Roadmap. Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) has issued the following statement:  

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – On Monday, August 3, the California State Senate Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Communications voted to approve Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s AB 1657 – Blue Ribbon Commission on Lithium Extraction in California.

(IMPERIAL, CA) – Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) and AT&T California proudly announce the American Legion Auxiliary, Bradley-Keffer Unit 138; Imperial County 4-H; and MANA de Imperial Valley as “Investing in California” award winners. These three local organizations will each receive $1,000 grants from AT&T to support their pandemic relief efforts.

Despite pandemic-related fiscal challenges, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) is proud to have secured funding for 56th Assembly District priorities, including over $47 million for New River and Salton Sea mitigation projects.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) Today, Governor Newsom has asked the County of Imperial to reinstitute their stay-at-home orders. This announcement comes after the California Department of Public Health’s active coordination with County officials and the close monitoring of the County’s increasing coronavirus (COVID-19) positivity rate as well as hospital and testing capacity.

(CALEXICO, CA) Next week, a new state COVID-19 testing site will open in the City of Calexico. This is the second state testing site to be approved for the Imperial Valley. Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) commends the County of Imperial and other local leaders who made this possible in partnership with the State of California.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) This afternoon, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) convened an Imperial Valley stakeholder group to coordinate New River advocacy in preparation of the Thursday, May 21, Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 3 on Resources and Transportation hearing where the $28 million funding proposal for the New River Improvement Project will be reviewed.
